Happy and Holy 4th Sunday in Easter!  We continue with joy and blessing to proclaim the Risen Lord to all the world!  Alleluia!

As we enter the month of May we begin with many and exciting celebrations at St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish.

1. Wednesday May 3rd is the graduation ceremony for the Institute in Leadership in Ministry (ILM).  St. Lawrence has one parishioner graduating this year, Tegan Johnson-Galvez.  Tegan has helped to lead our Confirmation Candidates in developing and nurturing a closer and fuller relationship with God. It is one of the great works of discipleship and charity to walk with our young parishioners in preparing to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Thank you, Tegan!
2. Friday May 5th our Bishop Oscar Cantú will be visiting our parish to receive the Confirmation Candidates which Tegan, Eleanor and the whole confirmation team have prepared for the reception of the Sacrament.  We pray that the hearts of our brother and sister parishioners be open to the Holy Spirit.  I ask that we all take time in prayer for and with these wonderful candidates during the week… and if you wish come and join us at Mass this Friday May 5th at 7:00 p.m.
3. Saturday May 6th we will have two Masses welcoming those families and their children who have prepared to receive their First Holy Communion. Most of us can remember quite vividly and with great joy our First Holy Communion.  I remember my crisp white shirt, bowtie, black trousers and the shiny black shoes I could only wear on Sundays.  Each family that has dedicated many hours bringing their children to class and also praying with them at home and being examples of faith to their children is a blessing beyond all measure.  We also thank the women and men, our catechists, and the teens who help them, for their work as disciples in sharing the faith with our children.

One of the things I hope you noticed is the participation of volunteers in all of the work we do at St. Lawrence the Martyr.  Their joyful presence and sacrifice of the gifts of time, talent and treasure are a great blessing to our parish community.  I would encourage everyone to please consider helping and participating in the ministry of the Church.  Many hands make light labor.

Last but not least, please keep me in your prayers….as I celebrate another year of life on the Memorial of St. Joseph the Worker.

Alleluia! He is Risen!  Alleluia!  Indeed, He is Risen! Alleluia!

¡Feliz y bendecido IV Domingo de Pascua! ¡Seguimos con alegría y bendición proclamando al Señor Resucitado a todo el mundo! ¡Aleluya!

Al entrar en el mes de mayo comenzamos con muchas y emocionantes celebraciones en nuestra parroquia:

1. El miércoles 3 de mayo es la ceremonia de graduación del Instituto de Liderazgo en Ministerio (ILM), y hay un feligrés de San Lorenzo que se gradúa este año, ella es Tegan Johnson-Gálvez. Tegan ha ayudado a guiar a nuestros Candidatos a la Confirmación a desarrollar y nutrir una relación más cercana y plena con Dios. Es una de las grandes obras de discipulado y caridad caminar con nuestros jóvenes feligreses en la preparación para recibir los dones del Espíritu Santo. ¡Gracias Tegan!
2. El viernes 5 de mayo nuestro Obispo Oscar Cantú visitará nuestra parroquia para recibir a los Candidatos a la Confirmación que Tegan, Eleanor y todo el equipo de confirmación han preparado para la recepción del Sacramento. Oramos para que los corazones de nuestros hermanos y hermanas feligreses estén abiertos al Espíritu Santo. Pido que todos tomemos tiempo en oración por y con estos maravillosos candidatos durante la semana, y si lo desea, venga y únase a nosotros en la Misa este viernes 5 de mayo a las 7:00 p.m.
3. El sábado 6 de mayo tendremos dos Misas de bienvenida a aquellas familias y sus hijos que se han preparado para recibir la Primera Comunión. La mayoría de nosotros podemos recordar muy vívidamente y con gran alegría nuestra Primera Comunión. Recuerdo mi camisa blanca impecable, corbatín, pantalones y los zapatos negros brillantes que solo podía usar los domingos. Cada familia que ha dedicado muchas horas llevando a sus hijos a clase y también orando con ellos en casa y siendo ejemplos de fe para sus hijos es una bendición sin medida. Agradecemos también a las mujeres y hombres, a nuestros catequistas y a los jóvenes que los ayudan, por su labor de discípulos al compartir la fe con nuestros niños.

Una de las cosas que espero que hayan notado, es la participación de voluntarios en todo el trabajo que hacemos en San Lorenzo Mártir. Su alegre presencia y el sacrificio de los dones de tiempo, talento y tesoro son una gran bendición para nuestra comunidad parroquial. Animo a todos a que consideren ayudar y participar en el ministerio de la Iglesia. Muchas manos alivian el trabajo.

Por último, pero no menos importante, es pedirles que me mantengan en sus oraciones, en tanto yo celebro otro año más de vida en la fiesta de San José Obrero.
