Today we celebrate the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time. We move towards the great holy days of All Saints
and All Souls, on the coming weekend. As we move ever closer to the end of the Liturgical Year, we are
reminded of the joy of our call to holiness and how we are continually united to the communion of saints and the invitation to pray for those who have died, especially for the holy souls in purgatory. Please consult the parish bulletin and website for Mass times for these two great days of celebration. I have written and talked a lot about the Diocesan Pastoral Plan “Renewed in Christ: Together in Mission.” This weekend we continue to move forward as a parish community. Today at the 10:00 a.m. Sunday Mass we will have the official installation and blessing of the Pastoral Leadership Team at St. Lawrence the Martyr.
This group of our fellow parishioners have been meeting and consulting with me and the parish for the past year. You may remember the parish survey, the ministry fair and other events to gather data and help me and the parish leadership a better understanding of where we are and how God is calling us to become closer in our relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ. It has been very fruitful for me, as your pastor, in helping to put forth a vision of our parish community which the spiritual renewal called for by our pastoral
plan is clearer and filled with more life. Which leads me to ask you for two important things going forward. Please continue to pray for our parish, diocese and Church. Prayer is so very important. Simply ask God
to bless us and open our hearts to hear His holy word. We need your help. Both our parish and parish school will be asking you for help and support going forward. The prayer you offer is very very important—but so is your participation in the life of the Church. The work of the parish and our local church isn’t for the few. It is for all of the faithful in whatever gifts and capacity
we can offer. Lastly, the ordination to Bishop of our former pastor Andres Ligot will be taking place in the coming week. Because of limitation of space, very few of us will be able to attend in person. Please go to the parish website to find the online link to participate in this great liturgy.
